About Debbie Kirkham
Studied Interior Design & 3D Design at Medway College of Art 1973 – 1976 gained a first class diploma. Studied Specialist decoration at the Pardon School in Kensington, London. Studied Textile Design at York St John University in York 2005 – 2008 gained a BA (Hons) 2:1 Degree in Art & Design.
Since leaving Art College I have worked in various fields of art and design including theatre design and scenery painting - here and in Guernsey, backdrops for bands including Iron Maiden, Runrig, East 17 etc, scenery for various productions for BBC and Anglia TV, specialist decorating – marbling, woodgraining and trompe l'oil.
Enjoyed studying textiles at university and discovering new dimensions and skills but ultimately have returned to concentrating on painting and in the last few years paintings in various media including oil, water colour, inks, print and collage work.
Living in Yorkshire and working in a studio at home.
Exhibited work in York Minster textile hanging depicting the 'First Days' when God created the world.
